Effects of Vinyl Substitutions on Resonance Raman Spectra of (Bacterio)chlorophylls
نویسندگان
چکیده
Soret resonance and Q, preresonance Raman spectra are reported and compared for a series of (bacterio)chlorophylIs. Chlorophyll a, 2-acetylchlorophyll a, bacteriochlorophyll a and 2-vinylbacteriochlorophyll a were studied in the non-protic solvent tetrahydrofuran. These experiments were designed to identify Raman bands corresponding to the stretching mode@) of the vinyl group at the C-2 position of ring I of chlorophyll a and 2-vinylbacteriochlorophyll a, and to ascertain whether additional bands corresponding to C, C, and/or C, C, vibrations could be observed in the 1615-1660 cm-' region. Raman spectra of chlorophyll u and 2vinylbacteriochlorophyll a exhibit a 1625 cm-' band, which is absent from the Raman spectra of 2-acetylchlorophyll u and bacteriochlorophyll a. It is assigned to the vC,,C,, mode of the vinyl group. No other band can be definitively assigned to any mode predominantly arising from vinyl motions. The acetyl-containing molecules 2-acetylchlorophyll a and bacteriochlorophyll a give rise to a cu. 1070 cm-' band, which appears to be related to the presence of the acetyl substituent. The 1615-1660 cm-' region of the Raman spectra of all four derivatives did not contain any additional band which could be ascribed to modes involving the vC,C, and/or vC, C, coordinates.

The Impact of Doping on the Anti-Resonance Effects of A11g Mode of InSe
A comparative study of anti-resonance effects in InSe and InSe doped with GaS, using the resonant Raman spectroscopy is presented. The nonpolar optical phonon of symmetry in InSe exhibits a pronounced decrease in the Raman cross-section at excitation energy 2.585 eV. In InSe doped with GaS samples, it is found that the anti-resonance behavior decreases as doping contents are increased. To acco...
متن کاملLow-Frequency Vibrational Spectra of Chlorophylls a and b in Solution: Effects ofAxial Coordination
The far-infrared spectra (500--100 cm-I) of chlorophyll a were observed in three solvent systems (benzene-pyridine, benzene-tetrahydrofuran, and benzene-acetone). The observed spectra could be classified into three types corresponding to the aggregate state, the five-coordinate monomeric state, and the six-coordinate state. The far-infrared spectra of I5N_and 26lV[g-substitutedspecies and the p...
متن کاملResonance Raman spectra of the heme in leghemoglobin. Evidence for the absence of ruffling and the influence of the vinyl groups.
Resonance Raman spectra of deoxy and carbonmonoxy leghemoglobin (Lb) are compared to the corresponding forms of human adult hemoglobin (HbA). It is found that the heme "core size" indicator line has nearly the same frequency for the two deoxyhemoglobins and the pi-electron density-sensitive line also falls at the same frequency. However, several other modes occur at very different frequencies i...
متن کاملOptimal Feature Extraction for Discriminating Raman Spectra of Different Skin Samples using Statistical Methods and Genetic Algorithm
Introduction: Raman spectroscopy, that is a spectroscopic technique based on inelastic scattering of monochromatic light, can provide valuable information about molecular vibrations, so using this technique we can study molecular changes in a sample. Material and Methods: In this research, 153 Raman spectra obtained from normal and dried skin samples. Baseline and electrical noise were eliminat...
متن کاملFT-Raman Spectra of Saffron (Crocus Stivus L.); A Possible Method for Standardization of Saffron
FT-Raman Spectra of Saffron (crocus sativus L.) with a partial assignment is reported. Based on the Raman data, it is concluded that main pigments in saffron are crocins and crocetin. It is proposed that the quickly attainable FT-Raman spectrum of solid saffron, may be used as a means of saffron standardization.
